The Bagram to Jabal al-Siraj Road Construction Project has officially resumed following a contract reactivation awarded to Harirod Construction Company for the completion of the remaining works.
Originally initiated by the Ministry of Public Works, the project experienced a temporary suspension due to administrative changes. After a gap in implementation, the contract has now been re-awarded to the Joint Venture of Harirod Construction Company and Himmel-u-Papisch Construction Company to finalize the unfinished portions of the project.
Under the revised agreement, the contract duration has been set at 12 calendar months, with the project officially restarting in February 2026. Completion is scheduled for February 2027.
The project covers a total length of 25.600 kilometers, beginning at Bagram Junction and ending at Jabal al-Siraj. Construction activities are currently underway, focusing on completing the remaining civil works, asphalt paving, drainage systems, and road safety installations.
Project teams have already mobilized to the site, and work is progressing in accordance with the updated implementation schedule.
Harirod Construction Company will lead the execution of the remaining works under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works, aiming to deliver the project within the specified timeframe.
Scope of Work
The project focuses on completing all outstanding construction activities in accordance with national engineering and road construction standards. Key components include:
- Roadway excavation
- Subgrade preparation
- Roadway embankment
- Embankment for green areas
- RCC culverts construction
- Excavation for foundations of structures
- Stone masonry works for culverts
- Installation of grating covers for drains and wells
- Curb stone installation
- Pavement works, including:
- Sub-base
- Bituminous prime coat
- Bituminous tack coat
- Asphalt concrete (wearing course)
- Asphalt concrete binder course
- Supply, installation, and connection of lighting poles, including solar panels and luminaires
- Road markings
All construction activities are being executed in strict compliance with the technical specifications and quality standards set by the Ministry of Public Works.
