Project Overview:

The Construction of the MultiTrade School (MTS) in Panjshir was a landmark initiative aimed at advancing vocational and technical education in central Afghanistan. The project was funded by KfW Germany and implemented under the supervision of PEM Consult on behalf of the Ministry of Education (DMTVET).

Located at an altitude of approximately 2,200 meters on a plateau safely elevated above the Panjshir River, the project focused on developing a robust and resilient educational facility. As the Prime Contractor, our company led the civil works, structural engineering, and delivery of infrastructure in full compliance with international safety and seismic standards.


Scope of Work:

The construction included two major buildings and several key auxiliary structures within the school campus:

Two-Floor Administrative and Laboratory Building

  • Ground Floor: Administrative offices

  • First Floor: Laboratories and technical workshops

Three-Floor Academic Building

  • Floors 1–3: 19 classrooms

  • Third Floor: Multipurpose room for training and events

Single-Story Ancillary Buildings

  • Automotive workshop

  • Male toilet facility

  • Female toilet facility

  • Power house

  • Water tower

  • Guard house


Design & Technical Specifications:

All infrastructure components were engineered for durability, safety, and climate suitability in the Panjshir Valley. The technical design featured:

  • Earthquake-resistant structural design

  • Reinforced Concrete Frame (RFC) skeleton structure

  • Roofing: Profile steel sub-structure with trapezium sandwich panels at a 7° slope

  • Openings: PVC windows and steel doors

All structures meet international seismic and safety standards, using premium construction materials and secure techniques tailored to the region’s conditions.
