The name HARIROD is generated from the name of a river with its source at Ba Ba mountain, located in the center of Afghanistan.

The Harirod passes Herat province, thus forms a small part of the Afghanistan/ Iranian border and is finally being consumed by Turkmenistan´s deserts.

The Harirod is Afghanistan´s biggest river, large enough to provide electricity and water for irrigation of rural areas along it ´s 1230 km long river bed.
